Flore Foulon

Alumna of the International Economic Law Master's program with Stetson University

What is your current position and what does it involve?

I am currently a law PhD candidate at King’s College London. I am researching abortion rights and the concept of bodily autonomy through comparative law. I am writing my thesis and will soon start teaching on law modules within the law school. I am also a Teaching Assistant in Tort Law and French Law on private law modules.

How did your training at ESL help you in your career?

My studies at ESL allowed me to develop a true appetence for law with inspiring professors who encouraged students’ curiosity. The double degrees at ESL are truly what motivated my career choices, as allowing me to study in several legal systems: the UK, France and the USA . Through them, I developed strong analytical legal skills in two languages.

Your best memory from school?

Most of my time spent in Toulouse with ESL was unfortunately spent online as during the Covid years, it is therefore hard to pinpoint a specific one. But being in a closer-knit circle of students was very enjoyable to socialise, but also to help out each other with classes.

Any advice for current students?

The key to opportunities is success, and success is something you have control over. Invest your time in your studies, in networking, in work opportunities. It is what will open most doors to you: dedication and time. Don’t be intimidated to try to go for things and put yourself out there, it will be rewarding!
