Introduction

The aim of this dual training is not only to provide students with theoretical and practical knowledge of the French and German legal systems, but also to offer them a comparative perspective. The programme is taught in French for French law and in German for German law.

The study of French and German law provides students with a rich and complementary training, enabling them to easily grasp the contributions and challenges of European law.

Objectives

This dual legal expertise, fluency in two specialised languages and experience of student mobility are essential assets for working at national and international level. The aim of this dual training programme is to produce experts with a mastery of French and German law, a strong analytical capacity and an excellent grasp of legal techniques, as well as dual language skills.

Specificities

At the end of the three-year programme, students receive a law degree and a diploma from the German university. The Licence de Droit (Bachelor of Law) is awarded by the Université Toulouse Capitole and the Certificate of German Law by the University of Passau or the University of Mannheim.

Application

Conditions of specific applications

Holders or prospective holders of the French baccalauréat or an equivalent diploma from the European Union, the European Economic Area or the Swiss Confederation should apply at www.parcoursup.fr between 17 January 2024 and 14 March 2024.

A pre-selection of applications will be carried out, followed by an interview for the short-listed candidates. The timetable and interview procedures will be finalised in the first quarter of 2024.

Other candidates should contact: esl@ut-capitole.fr

A maximum of 20 students will be selected for the first year. During the year abroad, a maximum of 10 students will go to Passau and 10 to Mannheim. The destination will be decided in the 2nd year according to the students' wishes and academic results, subject to the availability of places.

Conditions of admission / Conditions of successful application

Due to limited capacity, all programmes at the European School of Law are subject to selection. In addition to the qualities required for legal studies, this Franco-German double degree requires a very strong motivation to study law in a multicultural context (compulsory period of study in a partner university) and a solid command of French and German (at least level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
