Introduction

This double degree offered by the European School of Law Toulouse aims to provide students with a practical knowledge of the French and English legal systems, as well as a comparative perspective.

Below is a video introducing the double degree (1 hr):

Objectives

This dual expertise, fluency in two specialised languages and experience of student mobility are undeniable assets for lawyers planning to work abroad.

Students will be introduced to both the French and English legal systems simultaneously from the beginning of their studies, in order to encourage them to compare the different approaches and legal tools used in each system. In this way, students will be able to understand the differences and similarities between the French and English systems.

Specificities

The first and second years of the programme are taught at the University of Essex, and the third year at the University of Toulouse Capitole. At the end of the three-year programme, students will be awarded the Licence de Droit from the University of Toulouse Capitole and the LLB in English and French Law from the University of Essex.

Please see the "Applications" section for information on tuition fees.

Conditions of admission / Conditions of successful application

Due to limited capacity, all programmes at the European School of Law Toulouse are subject to selection. In addition to the qualities required for legal studies, this French-English double degree requires a very strong motivation to study law in a multicultural context (compulsory period of study in a partner university) and a solid command of French and English (at least level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). To make the most of this demanding programme, you will need to pass your baccalauréat with honours.
